Frequently Asked Questions

  • What can I expect from my first lesson?

After evaluating your level of playing and technique, I will provide the appropriate instruction and supplementary materials to get you on the road to being a better guitarist.

  • What styles and songs do you teach?

I have many different finger style and acoustic rock arrangements that I will incorporate into our lessons. These include songs such as “Dust in The Wind,” “Yesterday,” “Landslide” and “Blackbird.” The playing styles of Mississippi John Hurt, Robert Johnson, Reverend Gary Davis, Dave Van Ronk and Chet Atkins are also covered for the more advanced students.

  • How often is each lesson?

Lessons are typically held once a week. Students have the option to choose either a 30 minute, 45 minute or one-hour session.

  • Where are lessons held?

Lessons are held in the comfort of your own home, no need to travel.

  • I have never picked up a guitar before. Are these lessons for me?

I love teaching absolute beginners. The key is to get you playing.

  • Do I need to read music in order to take lessons?

All lessons use precise tablature in order to effectively accelerate learning. Not only will I teach you the proper way to read tab, you will also learn chords and ear training.  I also teach sight reading musical notation if so desired.

  • What days are you available?

I schedule lessons from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday. I also have weekend hours available for your convenience.

  • Do I need to have my own guitar?

I have a guitar for student use should you choose to wait a bit before you take the leap and buy an instrument.
